The Kwara State Government has approved the immediate admission of visually impaired girls into Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin, with free education, feeding, and accommodation, in a move “aimed at strengthening inclusivity and reducing out-of-school children across the state.”

The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, made the announcement on behalf of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, saying the initiative reflects government’s commitment to education without barriers.

“This decision is a bold step to guarantee no child is left behind in Kwara,” Governor AbdulRazaq was quoted as saying. “Every child, regardless of physical challenge, deserves quality education and opportunity.”

Dr. Olohungbebe explained that the policy aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Four, which calls for inclusive and equitable quality education for all.

He added that the new measure will expand learning opportunities for visually impaired girls, promote social equity, reduce inequality, and consolidate human capital development in Kwara State.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development.
