Former Kano governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has voiced regret over the decision of the Kano State Government he helped install to abandon the Kwankwasiyya movement and align with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso made the remarks after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and his associates were formally welcomed into the APC.
In a video posted on Sunusi Oscar’s Facebook page, Kwankwaso said he could not comprehend why the administration established under Kwankwasiyya was abruptly shifted to what he called Gandujiyya, the camp of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
“This government was formed with a lot of sacrifice, but without any clear reason that we know, it was taken away from our Kwankwasiyya structure and moved elsewhere,” he lamented.
Kwankwaso characterized the situation as painful and disappointing, while adding that only God understands the true reason behind the move.
He stated that he was praying the outcome would ultimately favour his supporters.
He also congratulated members of the Kano State House of Assembly who emerged victorious in the recent elections in Ungogo and parts of Kano Municipal, although, according to him, voter participation was low.
Kwankwaso concluded by extending goodwill to all Kwankwasiyya supporters and remarked that those who followed the government into the APC could still retrace their steps, emphasizing that the door remains open.
