The Kano State Police Command announced another breakthrough in its anti-crime operations with the arrest of suspected armed robbers and the seizure of huge consignments of illicit drugs and intoxicants.
In a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said operatives apprehended two notorious suspects following a robbery incident on September 14, 2025, at Tokarawa Quarters.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Nura Sani of Bauchi State and 35-year-old Ibrahim Lawan of Katsina State, allegedly attacked a residence with dangerous weapons and made away with a Mercedes Benz GLK worth ₦26.5m, phones, and other valuables.
In another raid at Jalli Village in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, officers recovered 540 packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules estimated at ₦40.5m.
The statement also revealed that on September 30, a surveillance team intercepted two men, Alhaji Isyaku Babayo of K/Mazugal and Mohammed Ahmed of Dorayi Babba, at the Dangauro Trailer Park. They were allegedly in possession of seven bags of a liquid substance called “Akuskura.” Each bag carried 350 bottles, totaling 2,450 bottles, with a market value of ₦2.45m.
The Command noted that the operation was carried out jointly with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to SP Kiyawa, suspects and recovered drugs including Tramadol, Pregabalin, and Cannabis Sativa worth more than ₦120m have been handed over to the NDLEA for detailed investigation.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended his officers for their dedication and courage. He further reassured the public that ongoing efforts would lead to the arrest of other collaborators and the recovery of all stolen property.
“The Command remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state, and we appreciate the continued support and cooperation of members of the public,” CP Bakori stated.
