The Kaduna State Government has designated the last Saturday of every month as Statewide Sanitation Day, launching a renewed campaign to strengthen public health, hygiene, and environmental protection.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, confirmed that the first exercise will hold on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abubakar Buba, described the initiative as a decisive move to improve community sanitation.

He called on community leaders, local councils, civil society groups, and residents to actively participate.

“A clean environment means a safer, healthier Kaduna State. We urge every resident to come out and take part,” Buba said.

He noted that monitoring teams will be deployed statewide to ensure smooth coordination and strong compliance.

Part of Strategy to Prevent Floods, Protect Public Health

Reinforcing the message, Maiyaki said the sanitation programme is a key pillar of Governor Uba Sani’s environmental and public health agenda.

“This is more than sweeping streets. It is a strategic, preventive action to stop floods, cut down environmental risks, and protect the wellbeing of our people,” he stated.

The government urged residents to fully support the exercise, stressing that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility and crucial for building a healthier, more resilient Kaduna.
