The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition has gained fresh momentum in Kaduna as prominent political figures converged to chart the path toward 2027.

According to an update posted via ADC Vanguard’s X handle on Saturday, September 20, 2025,  former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, held a strategic meeting with Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari, a former Commissioner of Finance, and Umar Waziri Agarin, former Attorney-General of Kaduna State. The gathering, described as a huddle of seasoned political actors, officially marked the launch of the ADC coalition in the state.

In its announcement, the party declared:

“The 2027 engine just roared to life. May this journey end in victory!”

The involvement of El-Rufai and his close allies is seen as a significant boost for the ADC coalition, which has been steadily expanding its influence across northern Nigeria.

With his reputation as a political strategist and administrator, El-Rufai’s alignment with the coalition is expected to reshape the dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Political analysts say the Kaduna launch could serve as a blueprint for similar mobilization across the country, particularly as the ADC has recently attracted defectors from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC). The coalition has positioned itself as a unifying platform for Nigerians seeking a fresh alternative to the ruling establishment.

Supporters of the ADC hailed Saturday’s development as a turning point, describing it as the beginning of an unstoppable political wave. As the 2027 race gradually takes shape, Kaduna appears set to emerge as a critical battleground in Nigeria’s shifting political landscape.
