The Kaduna State Police Command has recovered 210 rounds of 7.56mm ammunition after occupants of a commercial vehicle reportedly dumped a sack along the Zaria–Funtua highway.

In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the incident occurred on 25 November at about 4:15 p.m. when the Divisional Police Officer of Samaru, Zaria, received information that passengers in a black Volkswagen Golf had suspiciously thrown a sack out of the moving vehicle at the Dogo Itace axis.

According to him, officers on motorised patrol immediately moved to the scene, where they discovered the abandoned sack containing the ammunition.

Hassan said the DPO quickly alerted other divisions along the route up to Funtua, but the suspects could not be apprehended due to delayed information.

He noted that the suspects likely panicked as a result of the Command’s intensified motorised patrols and snap checkpoints.

Police Commissioner CP Rabiu Muhammad urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence to security operatives.
He assured that a “full-scale manhunt” for the fleeing suspects is underway, adding that the Command remains committed to proactive policing and safeguarding lives and property.

He warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state or face the full weight of the law.
