The Kaduna State Police Command has secured the release of ten victims, including three minors, who were abducted by bandits in Kagarko Local Government Area in May 2025.
In a statement on Friday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, explained that the victims were seized from their homes when armed men stormed Kushe Makaranta village in large numbers and took them into a forest near the Rijana community.
Among those rescued are children aged one, three, and thirteen.
The victims include Helen Abraham, Rosemary Elisha, Jummai Istifanus, Hauwa’u Sule, Mary Sunday, Kelvin Abraham, Devine Elisha, Jeremiah Istifanus, Christabeth Abraham, and Hauwa Sulaiman, all natives of Kushe Makaranta.
According to DSP Hassan, they regained freedom on October 7 after months of combined operations by the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the military, which exerted sustained pressure on the abductors.
“The bandits were forced to abandon the victims and flee from their hideout following continuous security operations in the area,” he said.
The police image maker noted that the rescued victims were moved to the Police Clinic for health checks and treatment.
“After two days of medical observation, they were declared stable and reunited with their families,” DSP Hassan stated.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, hailed the joint security team for their dedication and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to step up the fight against kidnapping and guarantee the protection of residents in Kaduna State.
“The Command remains resolute in restoring peace and protecting lives and property in every part of the State,” CP Muhammad assured.
