Kaduna State has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2026 Nigeria Public Relations Week with the theme “Food Security: From Policy Papers to Public Plates — The Public Relations Imperatives.”

The announcement was made by the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, when he led a high-powered delegation on a courtesy visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.

Dr. Neliaku said Kaduna emerged after a rigorous selection process, citing its effective crisis management, restoration of peace, trust-building among ethno-religious groups, and sustained economic renewal drive.

“Kaduna’s leadership has shown uncommon commitment to inclusive governance, peacebuilding, and transparency,” he said.

The NIPR President also conferred Governor Uba Sani as Grand Patron of the Institute, describing the gesture as recognition of his administration’s strides in governance and communication.

Responding, Governor Sani thanked the Institute for the honour and said the theme reflects pressing national priorities.

“Kaduna is not only the political capital of Northern Nigeria but also its spiritual capital — the most cosmopolitan state in the country,” he said. “You cannot effectively manage reputation without tackling insecurity and poverty. That’s why we have invested massively in agriculture, education, and health.”

Kaduna peace yielding results – Uba Sani

The governor said Kaduna’s peace efforts were yielding results, noting that the United Kingdom recently moved the state from Red to Amber status.

“Since we came into office, there has been no ethno-religious crisis. Schools have reopened, farmers are back on their farms, and investors are returning,” he added.

Governor Sani pledged full support for the 2026 event and commended NIPR for promoting professionalism, ethics, and national unity.

“This recognition reflects growing confidence in Kaduna as a centre of peace, progress, and inclusive governance,” he said.
