Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has been conferred with an Honorary Fellowship and Grand Patronship of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIoTA) for his leadership in modernizing Kaduna’s transport system.
The recognition came as the Governor chaired the 7th National Transport Conference and delivered the keynote address, describing the honour as “humbling and deeply fulfilling.”
“The gathering offered an opportunity to share Kaduna’s transport transformation story and to exchange ideas with Nigerians committed to a more connected and mobile nation,” he said.
Governor Sani commended Prince Segun Obayendo for his purposeful leadership that has positioned CIoTA as a force for professionalism and innovation in the sector.
FG hails Kaduna reforms
At the conference, Transport Minister Senator Said Ahmed Alkali, Livestock Development Minister Alhaji Mukhtar Maiha, and CIoTA leaders hailed Kaduna as a model of reform.
They noted that Kaduna, after Lagos, is the only state with a comprehensive Transport Policy, underscoring its emergence as a hub of innovation, infrastructure renewal, and sustainable mobility.
Highlighting Kaduna’s achievements, Governor Sani said the state has built or rehabilitated over 785 km of roads, launched the Kaduna Bus Rapid Transit (KBRT),the first in Northern Nigeria, introduced subsidised CNG and hybrid buses offering free rides to students and workers, initiated the Kaduna Light Rail Project, and upgraded motor parks and trailer terminals.
“This recognition reaffirms our commitment to a modern, inclusive, and environmentally responsible transport system that drives prosperity and improves lives,” he said.
Governor Sani thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for approving Kaduna’s Light Rail project, and lauded Senator Said Ahmed Alkali for his strong partnership.
