The Kaduna State Government has issued a warning to health workers over lateness to work and negligence in the discharge of their duties.

The Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Bello Jamoh, gave the warning during a meeting organised by the board with health associations and other key stakeholders in the state’s health sector.

Dr. Jamoh said patients have long complained about the attitude of some health workers who fail to give adequate attention to those seeking medical care.

“We have continued to receive complaints from patients about the lack of attention shown by some health workers. This forces people to seek treatment in inappropriate places,” he said.

He explained that the government would take decisive action against any health worker found to be shirking their responsibilities.

Government addresses staff shortage

According to him, the challenge of inadequate health personnel and welfare issues in Kaduna State is easing, following steps taken by the government.

“The government has increased salaries for health workers and recruited new staff. There is therefore no justification for lateness or negligence,” he added.

Dr. Jamoh reaffirmed the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state.

“The government is fully committed to strengthening the healthcare system to ensure that patients receive quality and timely care,” he stated.
