The Kaduna State Government has returned the Unguwar Mu’azu market land allegedly taken over by some individuals to the rightful traders.

The market’s Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Director, told journalists that the government stepped in after they staged a peaceful protest to assert rightful ownership of the land.

“We are grateful for their swift action,” he said.

The traders expressed their gratitude to Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), and the Chairman of Kaduna South Local Government, Hon. Rayyanu Hussein, for ensuring the land was restored to them.

“We thank the governor and all officials involved. Their intervention has brought relief and justice to our community,” Alhaji Lawal added.

Speaking on the matter, the Secretary of the Unguwar Mu’azu Elders’ Forum, Alhaji Nuhu Suleiman, said:

“I started advocating for this land to be recognized as a market nearly 29 years ago. We still have official government documents confirming our legitimate ownership.”

Unguwar Mu’azu Market is a prominent commercial hub in Kaduna, known for its scrap-metal trade and for training young people in various vocational skills, further highlighting its importance to the local economy.
