INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, has confirmed that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC is fully prepared for the 2027 general election, despite the apparent delay in the passage of the amended Electoral Act currently before the National Assembly.
Accordingly, the Commission said it has completed work on the election timetable and schedule of activities.
Amupitan made this known on Wednesday in Abuja during a meeting with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
While he noted that INEC has forwarded its submissions to the National Assembly, he admitted that some items in the schedule of activities may be affected by the time lawmakers pass the electoral act.
He, however, said for now, the commission has no option but to depend on the existing Act for its operations.
