The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has shut down the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp at the Arc. Muhammad Namadi Sambo Skill Acquisition Centre in Tudun Wada, Kaduna South LGA.
The camp, established on September 13, 2025, sheltered 239 displaced persons who have now returned to their communities after safety inspections.
Flooding affected several areas, including Bashama Road, Kaje Road, Katagun Road, Fulani Road, and Mashi Road, leaving hundreds of residents temporarily displaced.
Officials race to cushion flood impact
NEMA, KADSEMA, Red Cross, and security officials jointly assessed the affected areas to ensure they were safe for residents’ return.
NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, activated the Kaduna Operations Office to lead rescue operations and rapid damage assessment immediately after the flood.
The emergency response was supervised by NEMA North West Zonal Director, Mal. Sani Lokoja, and the Head of Kaduna Operations Office, Mal. Suleiman Muhammad, who confirmed that relief interventions had been delivered successfully.
