Boko Haram insurgents has launched an assault on a military outpost in Ngamdu, located along the Damaturu–Maiduguri Road in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, leaving at least four soldiers dead and five others injured.
A statement by the spokesman for Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col. Uba Sani, revealed that the raid, which happened around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, was beaten back by troops after heavy fighting, noting that the terrorists sustained major losses during the clash.
“Troops of Operation HADIN KAI successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in the Ngamdu general area, following a swift response by forces on ground and reinforcement elements from 29 Task Force Brigade.
“The terrorists employed Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-initiated Improvised Explosive Devices, targeting troops and own platforms,” the statement partly read.
According to the release, despite the ferocity of the attack, the soldiers maintained their positions.
He further explained that the insurgents tried to block reinforcements and cause more casualties by laying several IEDs along the Ngamdu–Damaturu Main Supply Route, MSR.
Sani said that after the attack, the soldiers were quickly provided with essential supplies, such as MRAP tyres and ammunition, to continue operations and restore movement.
He also disclosed that reliable intelligence confirmed the terrorists recorded severe casualties, with reports of about 15 corpses interred around Bula Wura, near Wasaram.
