A part of the Rivers State Government Secretariat in Port Harcourt has been destroyed by fire.
According to The Cable, the cause of the incident is yet to be determined, but the affected section is said to be the office of the Rivers State Pension Board.
This comes just weeks after President Bola Tinubu reinstated the suspended governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara, along with members of the State House of Assembly.
It will be recalled that Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the oil-rich Niger Delta state on March 18, 2025.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Honour Sirawoo, confirmed the fire outbreak.
He did not clarify whether there were any casualties.
Sirawoo also said firefighters from the state and the Federal Fire Service (FFS) were at the scene, battling the flames.
