Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday arrested Sani Galadi, a suspected kidnap kingpin, at the Sultan Abubakar International Airport in Sokoto.
The detention occurred around 11:15 am at the Hajj terminal during a routine screening of intending pilgrims. Intelligence officers had been tracking Galadi’s movements prior to his apprehension.
Galadi’s arrest follows closely on the heels of another high-profile kidnap suspect detained at the Abuja Hajj camp less than 24 hours earlier.
Observers are now asking how these individuals managed to secure valid travel documents and pass through multiple security checks unnoticed.
When pressed, a DSS source redirected inquiries to the passport and immigration agencies but confirmed that Galadi is in custody and cooperating with investigators.
“He will have his day in court once the investigation wraps up,” the source added.
