A Federal High Court in Abuja has found Nnamdi Kanu guilty on count all counts of the terrorism charges filed against him.
The judge said he was convinced that Kanu made several broadcasts calling for violence and killings to push for Biafra.
Why the court ruled this way
Justice James Omotosho said the prosecution presented “uncontroverted evidence” that proved the allegation.
He also rejected Kanu’s claim that the charges were invalid because they cited the repealed Terrorism Prevention Act of 2013.
He held that Kanu is a false defender of the people of the South East whose action has led to blood shedding of the people than any other person.
The Judge said that Kanu is a terrorist and must be treated as such without fears or favour.
Justice Omotosho held that the prosecution led sufficient credible evidence to establish its case against Kanu.
The judge said the court has no option than to believe the evidence as led by the prosecution since the defendant failed to enter his defence, but chose to gamble by resting his case on that of the prosecution.
Justice Omotosho is still reading the remaining part of the judgment
