The Borno State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered six laptops and nine mobile phones stolen from an NGO office in Maiduguri.
The arrest follows a report filed on November 10 by an NGO located along Damboa Road, which disclosed that 18 mobile phones and six laptops were missing from its premises.
In a statement on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, said operatives of the State Intelligence Department launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspects on November 14.
The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Ba’isa Yerima and 25-year-old Basiru Usman.
ASP Daso said the two were found in possession of the stolen laptops and nine of the missing phones.
He added that the suspects claimed they bought the devices from an unidentified seller for ₦520,000 for the laptops and ₦25,000 each for the phones.
According to the police, efforts are underway to track the fleeing suspect and recover the remaining nine mobile phones.
The Command assured that the investigation is ongoing and the suspects remain in custody.
The statement also urged residents to support security efforts by providing credible information that could assist ongoing crime-prevention operations.
