The Department of State Services (DSS) has remained silent regarding the reported summon of Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the former running mate of Peter Obi under the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.

This comes after a Friday report claiming that Baba-Ahmed, who is also the founder of Baze University, was called in by the DSS over remarks considered capable of heightening political tensions in the country.

According to security expert, Zagazola Makama, undisclosed security operatives confirmed that the invitation was prompted by worries surrounding Baba-Ahmed’s recent public comments, especially his repeated warnings of an impending “constitutional crisis.”

One of the sources said the 2023 Labour Party vice-presidential candidate had recently featured on national television, where he accused the judiciary and the military of facilitating the swearing-in of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The source further claimed that Baba-Ahmed suggested the military had been emboldened to “look you in the face and call you bloody fools” because of the inauguration.

“The secret police is treating his comments with caution. This is not about politics but about safeguarding the corporate existence of the nation,” the source stated.

According to reports, the DSS had yet to release a formal statement on the matter.
