Three personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) lost their lives on Thursday night after gunmen, believed to be members of the Lakurawa armed group, stormed a checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa community, Bagudu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The assailants also touched a patrol van and wrecked the checkpoint shelter during the raid.

The incident was revealed in a post shared on Friday by security analyst Bakatsine on X, who also uploaded a video capturing the aftermath of the attack.

“Yesterday night, gunmen suspected to be Lakurawa attack Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa community, Bagudu LGA of Kebbi State.”

”They killed 3 NIS officer, set a vehicle ablaze and destroyed the shelter area during the attack,” Bakatsine wrote.

Bakatsine further asked; “What steps do you think communities and authorities can take to improve safety in situations like this?.”
