President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his trip to South Africa and Angola to receive further security briefings on the kidnapped Kebbi schoolgirls and the attack on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, said the president ordered the deployment of more security personnel to Eruku and the entire Ekiti Local Government Area.
He also directed the police to pursue the bandits who attacked members of Christ Apostolic Church during worship.
Tinubu was scheduled to travel today to attend the 20th G20 Summit in Johannesburg.
He was also expected to proceed to Luanda for the 7th AU-EU Summit.
He suspended his departure after receiving reports on the security breaches in Kebbi and Kwara.
He said he will wait for updates from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf.
He also awaits reports from the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services on the attack in Kwara.
Tinubu reiterated his directive to rescue the 24 abducted schoolgirls.
He said the security agencies must ‘do everything possible’ to bring the girls home safely.
