The Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, has cautioned students and the public about a counterfeit loan portal.

According to NELFUND, a misleading message is circulating online, falsely claiming that its Student Loan Registration Portal is now active. The message urges applicants to use a third-party link (http://gvly.xyz/Nelfund-Student-Loan), which the Fund has confirmed is both unauthorised and fraudulent.

In a statement posted on its X handle on Tuesday, the Fund urged students and the general public to avoid clicking the link or sharing any personal information. It emphasised that the genuine loan registration portal can only be accessed through NELFUND’s official platforms.

The agency advised applicants to remain cautious online and to report any suspicious links or messages claiming to originate from NELFUND.

”Applicants are encouraged to always verify official announcements via NELFUND’s official website and social media channels,” NELFUND said.

This forms part of the Fund’s ongoing measures to protect students and uphold the integrity of the student loan application system.
