The troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have restored peace to Karangiya and Danjawo villages in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State after a violent clash broke out between farmers and herders on Sunday morning.

According to reliable sources quoted by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the clash started around 9 a.m. following a dispute over the alleged cultivation of farmlands along established cattle routes.

Witnesses said the confrontation between Hausa farmers from Karangiya and Fulani herders from Danjawo quickly turned violent before security operatives intervened to stop further bloodshed.

Troops move swiftly to restore order

The soldiers were immediately deployed to the affected areas to bring the situation under control and prevent reprisals. Reports indicate that nine people—five farmers and four herders—sustained varying degrees of injuries during the clash.

Medical sources at the Silame General Hospital confirmed that five of the victims were treated and discharged, while three others are still receiving treatment.

Local authorities have since moved to calm tensions in the area and prevent a recurrence of the violence.

Stakeholders meet to find lasting peace

The Chairman of Silame Local Government Area has convened an emergency stakeholders’ meeting involving community leaders, traditional rulers, and security agencies to address the root causes of the conflict.

Meanwhile, intensive patrols and aerial surveillance have been launched in the affected communities to maintain peace and reassure residents of their safety.

Security sources confirmed that calm has been fully restored, and normal activities have resumed in both villages.
