In a bid to deepen inter-agency cooperation, the Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone B, Comptroller Aminu Sule, paid a courtesy visit to the NDLEA Kaduna State Command Headquarters on Wednesday.

The State NDLEA Commander, CN Mohammed Tukur, received the Customs boss with a Quarter Guard parade mounted in his honour by NDLEA officers.

Speaking during the visit, Comptroller Sule said the engagement was aimed at strengthening existing cordial relations between the two agencies, particularly in intelligence sharing and operational collaboration.

He noted that “drugs fuel crime,” stressing the need for closer cooperation between NDLEA and the Customs Service to curb illicit drug trafficking and safeguard national security.

“The aim of this visit is to strengthen inter-agency collaboration, particularly in the areas of intelligence sharing and operational support,” he said.

“Drugs fuel crime in our society, and there is a need for alignment with the NDLEA to tackle the menace at its roots in order to safeguard public health and security.”

NDLEA commander pledges continuous partnership

n his response, CN Tukur warmly welcomed the Comptroller and his entourage, recalling their acquaintance dating back to the late 1990s.

He described the NCS as a vital stakeholder in Nigeria’s security architecture, acknowledging that no single agency can effectively discharge its mandate in isolation.

“No institution can effectively carry out its mandate in isolation. The NCS remains one of our most vital partners in the fight against illicit drugs.”

Tukur assured that the NDLEA Kaduna Command will continue to maintain open channels of collaboration, expressing confidence that stronger ties will yield greater operational results. He also wished the Comptroller a successful tenure in office.

The visit featured a Quarter Guard parade, signing of the visitors’ register, exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs.
