The Kaduna State Government has entered into a $120 million Memorandum of Understanding  with African Industries Group and the Bank of Agriculture to significantly expand the state’s agricultural capacity.

The agreement was formalized during Governor Uba Sani’s official working visit to Bucharest, Romania.

Under the terms of the partnership, large-scale irrigation farming will be developed in Gurara, while a state-of-the-art greenhouse project will be established adjacent to the African Industries steel plant in Gujeni, Kaduna.

According to governor Uba Sani:

“This initiative is more than an investment; it is a bold leap toward positioning Kaduna as a beacon of agro-industrial excellence,” he stated.

He further noted that the collaboration will enhance food security, promote rural prosperity, generate quality employment, and attract global agribusiness investments.

The project will leverage the Kaduna Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAP-Z) and the Africa Quality Assurance Centre (AQAC), thereby enabling local farmers to participate competitively in international agricultural markets.

Governor Sani also underscored the significance of Romania’s role in the agreement.

“Romania is renowned for its agricultural expertise and advanced technology sector. By tapping into its European market connections, Kaduna will strengthen its participation in global trade,” he said.

He emphasized that Kaduna’s progress as a premier investment destination is the product of its fertile land, industrious population, and a government committed to infrastructure, innovation, and investor confidence.
