The Yobe State Police Command has arrested four suspects linked to separate crimes, including child rape, illegal possession of firearms, and assault on a police officer.

In Nguru, police detained Jarma Hussaini Adam (25) and Mohammed Abdusalam, known as “Uzaifa” (16), after they allegedly attacked CPL Amani Ali, who was on guard duty at the Federal Medical Centre.

The officer was discovered unconscious and bleeding, and his rifle was stolen during the attack.

Police launch operation

Police swiftly launched an operation, recovering the stolen weapon, ammunition, and a knife jacket abandoned in the Sabon Garin Kanuri swamp area.

The injured officer is now receiving medical care, and the suspects are in custody.

The Police Command condemned the assault, describing it as a challenge to state authority and promising that the suspects would face full prosecution.

In a separate incident, officers arrested Ibrahim Alh. Ahmadu (24) in Damaturu for threatening a farmer with a gun after trespassing on his farmland with livestock.
Police recovered a shotgun and live ammunition and warned that using firearms to intimidate civilians is a serious crime that will not be tolerated.

In another case, police in Potiskum arrested Dahiru Ali (19) for allegedly raping a 3-year-old girl in the Mutawassada area.

Investigations revealed that he had previously assaulted another 3-year-old girl in the same neighborhood.
The suspect, who worked as a domestic servant, lured the children with sweets and milk before assaulting them.
He confessed to the crimes, and investigations continue.

Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Ado strongly condemned the attacks and criminal acts.

He reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on violence and urged parents to monitor their children closely.

The Commissioner also called on residents to support the police with credible information to improve safety and security across the state.

He emphasized that the arrests reflect the Command’s ongoing commitment to fighting crime and protecting lives and property in Yobe State.
