The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of four of its top national officers following a recent court order that halted the party’s planned national convention.

Those affected by the suspension include the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; the Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and the National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the suspension, which will last for one month, is a disciplinary measure aimed at allowing the NWC to conduct an internal review of the recent developments surrounding the aborted convention.

The party’s leadership said the decision became necessary in order to preserve internal cohesion and protect the integrity of its ongoing reform processes.

“The National Working Committee has resolved to suspend the affected officials for one month pending the outcome of an internal investigation into their roles in the events that led to the legal setback suffered by our party.”

The court ruling, delivered by the Federal High Court, Abuja, had restrained the PDP from going ahead with its national convention, citing procedural irregularities and internal disputes over delegates’ accreditation.

The NWC assured members and supporters that the suspension is not a punitive measure but a temporary step to ensure accountability and adherence to the party’s constitution.

Meanwhile, the party has called on all stakeholders to remain calm, emphasizing that the PDP remains united and committed to democratic values and internal reforms.
