Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday, May 3, 2025, joined other world leaders and thousands of Gabonese citizens at the inauguration ceremony of Brice Clotaire Nguema as the new President of Gabon.
He said this is this is in a strong demonstration of Nigeria’s commitment to democratic governance across Africa
Nguema takes oath after election victory
The inauguration followed Nguema’s victory in the April 12, 2025, presidential election, where he emerged winner after defeating seven other candidates.
Prior to his election, Nguema served as Gabon’s interim president for 20 months following the removal of former President Ali Bongo in a government transition.
VP Shettima’s presence at the event signifies Nigeria’s continued support for peaceful transitions and democratic consolidation across the continent.
