A wave of political defection has swept through Ungoggo Local Government Area of Kano State as former council chairman, Honourable Sule Musa Kadawa, led over 2,000 followers from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The event, held during a grand welcome ceremony in Ungoggo, attracted a large crowd of supporters loyal to Alhaji Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura, popularly called AA Zaura.
Kadawa, who once chaired the council, explained that his decision to align with the APC stemmed from Zaura’s exemplary leadership, philanthropy, and dedication to community progress.
He vowed to collaborate with fellow APC members in Ungoggo and beyond to strengthen the party’s base ahead of upcoming polls.
Kadawa said, “A.A. Zaura’s good conduct and the assistance he rendered to the community are among the qualities that made me identify with him. We are ready to unite with every APC supporter in Ungoggo and Kano as a whole.”
The defection has been described as a significant boost to Zaura’s rising political profile within the Kano APC, especially in the Kano Central Senatorial District, where he has played a vital role in mobilising grassroots supporters for the party.
Zaura, known for his empowerment drives and humanitarian efforts across the state, was the APC’s senatorial candidate for Kano Central in the 2023 general elections and continues to be one of the party’s leading figures in the region.
Party members present at the event hailed Kadawa’s switch as a morale booster for the APC’s consolidation drive in Ungoggo, portraying it as proof of renewed faith in the party’s leadership both at state and local levels.
