The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has voiced concern over recent remarks by United States President Donald J. Trump, who designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” and hinted at possible military intervention.
In a statement released to journalists, Kwankwaso urged the US government to adopt a more constructive approach toward Nigeria by providing technological and developmental support instead of issuing threats.
He noted that Nigeria, like many other developing countries, is dealing with multifaceted security and socio-economic problems that call for collaboration, intelligence exchange, and technological investment.
“What Nigeria needs from the United States is partnership in innovation, education, and technology not intimidation or interference.”
The former Kano State governor also appealed to the Nigerian government to reinforce its diplomatic relationships with the United States and other global partners in pursuit of peace, security, and sustainable growth.
