The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has commended Iconic Open University for its impressive commitment to quality nursing education following a resource verification visit to the university’s Department of Nursing Science.

The Council’s panel visited the institution to assess the human and material resources available for the effective training of nurses under its Bachelor of Nursing Science programme.

During the visit, the panel carefully examined the facilities and provisions made by the university and expressed satisfaction with its level of investment in the Open and Distance Learning system. They pledged to encourage such initiatives by ensuring that all required standards are maintained so that the programme and its students receive the quality education, skills, and recognition they deserve.

According to the statement released by the university, both the department and the management reaffirmed their commitment to comply fully with the Council’s recommendations and standards.

The statement reads: “Both the department and the university management expressed their readiness to comply with the Council’s guidance and advice in order to achieve the desired quality and impact of the programme on healthcare delivery in Nigeria and beyond.

The statement further noted that the university’s Bachelor of Nursing Science is among its degree programmes approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Iconic Open University, despite operating through the Open and Distance Learning mode, continues “to make remarkable progress in delivering globally recognized education, fostering innovation, and expanding access to professional training and academic excellence across Africa.”
