Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has praised the completion of Nigeria’s first indigenous Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel owned by businessman Muhammadu Indimi.

He described the project as a major step for the country’s industrial and technological progress.

Zulum spoke on Saturday during the sail-away ceremony of the EMEM FPSO at the Drydocks World facility in Dubai.

The event marked the completion of the vessel, which is now ready to depart for Nigeria.

“The sail away of the EMEM FPSO is more than an engineering feat,” Zulum said.

“It is a statement of confidence in Nigeria’s energy future and a sign of what homegrown enterprise can achieve through vision and discipline.”

He thanked the Government and People of Dubai for their hospitality.

Zulum said hosting the event in the UAE showed the strong ties in innovation, trade, and development between both sides. The EMEM FPSO is valued at $315 million.

It has a storage capacity of one million barrels and can produce up to 30,000 barrels of oil per day.

It is the first FPSO fully financed by an indigenous Nigerian company, Oriental Energy Resources Limited.

Zulum commended Indimi and the Oriental Energy team for what he called a bold step for the private sector.

“This project does not only add to national output,” he said.

“It also shows that Nigeria’s private sector can drive growth, create jobs, and compete globally.”

The vessel will be deployed to Petroleum Mining Lease 15.

It is expected to boost Nigeria’s oil production and increase national revenue in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Zulum said the project reflects the resilience and innovation that guide Borno State’s rebuilding efforts.

“It gives confidence that with determination and partnership, Nigeria’s best days lie ahead,” he said.

He wished the EMEM FPSO a safe voyage and successful operations.

Zulum called the project a “symbol of Nigeria’s strength, ingenuity, and promise.”
