President Bola Tinubu

PresiwPresident Bola Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent killings in Plateau State, describing the attacks as “unacceptable” and promising that those responsible will be brought to justice.

The attacks, which occurred on Wednesday, targeted the Ruwi, Hurti, and Tadai communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, as well as the Manguna and Dafo villages. Gunmen carried out the assaults, causing widespread destruction and loss of life.

In a statement issued by his special adviser, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extended condolences to the victims’ families, and assured Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the federal government’s support in restoring peace.

“The latest attacks on defenseless citizens are unacceptable. I have directed security agencies to hunt down the attackers, and they will face severe punishment when apprehended,” Tinubu stated.

The president emphasized that such violence has no place in Nigeria and reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all Nigerians. He urged residents of the affected communities to cooperate with security forces in providing critical information to help apprehend the attackers.

He also appealed for calm, urging citizens to resist retaliation and instead promote unity and peaceful coexistence. Furthermore, the president directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assist with relief efforts, including medical aid and rebuilding support for the victims.

This attack adds to a series of violent incidents in Plateau, which has struggled with ethnic and communal violence for years.
