President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, according to the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The appointment will take effect from January 10, 2026, and is for a four-year tenure.
Odusote, who is 54 years old, currently serves as Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus and will become the first woman to head the institution since it was established in 1962.
She will take over from the incumbent Director-General, Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose eight-year tenure comes to an end on January 9, 2026.
Odusote earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She also obtained a Master of Laws degree from the same institution, specialising in company and commercial law.
She later completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Law at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom, with academic interests centred on Public Law and the administration of justice.
Odusote joined the Nigerian Law School in 2001 as a lecturer and has since held several positions, including Head of the Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Campus Head.
At different times during her career, she was a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom.
She has published widely in reputable local and international law journals and has presented academic papers at numerous legal education conferences. She has also served on committees of the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association.
As Director-General, Odusote will oversee the institution’s academic leadership, administrative operations, and strategic development across all campuses. She will also act as the main link between the Nigerian Law School, the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
