As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in Sokoto State, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, has visited the Specialist Hospital Sokoto to assess the progress of renovation work at the facility.
The project, supported by the EU-SARA programme through UNICEF, is focused on upgrading the maternity complex to meet global standards. Dr. Abubakar explained that the initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to improving healthcare services for residents.
He noted that issues observed during his earlier inspection had been addressed, adding that the renovation work was progressing smoothly.
The contractor handling the project, Alhaji Kasimu Ibrahim, expressed gratitude to the state government and acknowledged the support received from the Ministry of Health, which he said has been vital to the successful execution of the work.
During the visit, Dr. Abubakar was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Alhaji Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi, as well as representatives of agencies under the ministry.
