Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, have neutralized 438 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists during counter-insurgency operations carried out between May and December 2025.

The sustained operations also led to the surrender of 881 terrorists and their family members as military pressure intensified across multiple areas of operation in the region.

Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, the theatre commander of Operation Hadin Kai, disclosed the figures in Maiduguri during a Christmas luncheon organized in honor of troops and other security agencies.

The operations, conducted with support from the Civilian Joint Task Force, hunters, and vigilantes, targeted terrorist camps and hideouts across the North East.

The clearance efforts resulted in the recovery of 254 assorted high-caliber weapons and the rescue of 366 civilians held by insurgents.

Maj. Gen. Abubakar said the successes were achieved through sustained ground and air operations backed by improved intelligence sharing and coordination among security agencies.

He disclosed that troops also recovered more than 300 Starlink communication devices believed to have been intended for terrorist use, while several logistics hubs and assets belonging to insurgents were destroyed.

The commander attributed improved security in some communities to the establishment of new forward operating bases and the resettlement of internally displaced persons with support from the Borno State Government.

He noted that preparations were ongoing to sustain operations during the dry season, reaffirming the commitment of the military to restoring peace and stability across the North East.

The event was attended by Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, who was represented by Bukar Tijjani, the secretary to the state government, alongside senior military officers and other stakeholders.

Tributes were paid to personnel who lost their lives during operations, while wounded soldiers receiving treatment within and outside the country were acknowledged.

Governor Zulum was commended for supporting security operations through the provision of logistics and equipment, which strengthened intelligence gathering, secure communication, and rapid response.

The military also acknowledged the contributions of other security agencies and local communities, stressing that sustained cooperation remains critical to addressing security challenges in the region.
