The Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) in Ogun State has set up 2,000 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) aimed at expanding women’s access to finance, skills, and social capital to improve their livelihoods and overall living standards.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, stated during the project’s launch that the groups were not created for political reasons but to strengthen financial literacy, entrepreneurship, savings and investment culture, as well as economic networking among women.

The Project Coordinator, Bolanle Fadairo, described the achievement—featured on the national Project Management Information System (PMIS)—as an encouragement to further deepen women’s empowerment. She noted that establishing the groups would help build a robust economic network among women across the state to enhance their livelihoods.

Fadairo added that the level of success achieved within six weeks highlighted the state’s institutional preparedness and strong commitment to women’s empowerment under the scale-up phase of the initiative.

“The feat reflects the visionary leadership and unwavering support of the present administration, as well as the political will of key stakeholders involved in the project,” she said.
