Iconic Open University has announced that its Fall Semester 2025 examinations will begin on December 1, 2025.

The exams will run simultaneously across 71 centres in Nigeria and 15 international locations, including the US, UK, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Canada, Algeria, Mali, South Africa, Egypt, Ghana and Qatar.

The move is designed to give students around the world seamless access to the university’s exam system.

For the third semester in a row, the university will conduct essay-based examinations using advanced computer-based technology.

This marks a major shift from the traditional “pen-on-paper” format, positioning Iconic Open University as the first institution in Nigeria to successfully implement full digital essay assessments.

The Registrar, Mr. Muhammad G. Sanusi, speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, said the institution is fully prepared to deliver a smooth and secure examination process.

He explained that both traditional and computer-based essay exams will be administered across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes while maintaining strict academic standards.
Innovation and global access

University officials say the initiative underscores Iconic Open University’s commitment to academic excellence and technological innovation. By expanding access through its open and distance learning model, the institution aims to bridge educational gaps and connect learners from Nigeria to audiences around the world.

They added that the digital transformation of essay exams is part of a broader goal to modernise assessment methods and offer students a more efficient and flexible academic experience.

The approach, they say, is in line with global standards and the university’s long-term vision for digital learning.

As preparations intensify ahead of the December examination window, the institution reaffirmed its resolve to keep improving its systems and providing students with a reliable, advanced and globally competitive learning environment.
