Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has intensified efforts to complete abandoned and stalled road projects across the state, with the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA) stepping up inspections of major corridors.

KADRA Managing Director, Dr. Abdullahi Ahmad, said inspections followed the governor’s directive to fast-track inherited projects left at 20–30 per cent completion.

He cited unpaid contractor fees, compensation delays and utility relocation as factors that stalled several roads since 2022.

According to Ahmad, outstanding liabilities have now been cleared, and compensation for over 120 households approved, enabling contractors to return to site. Asphalt laying is ongoing on the Kabala–Costain and Aliyu Makama link roads, where a dual bridge under construction is expected to ease congestion and address flooding.

He said the Nasarawa Flour Mills corridor, abandoned at 25 per cent, has now reached 65 per cent.

“When we came here, it was only drainage works. Today, binder course has been laid. The Governor has directed that it must be completed before the rainy season,” he said.

Work has also resumed on Rabah Road leading to the Rigasa Train Station, with completion expected before the end of next year.

Ahmad confirmed that about ₦1 billion was paid as compensation on the Kabala and Aliyu Makama expansion.

CCECC Project Manager, Henry Zhang, said manpower and materials had been increased to meet the new timelines. Residents also reported improvements, with transport fares dropping and commercial activity returning.

Ahmad said KADRA would continue routine inspections as directed by the governor, noting that the projects are critical to easing traffic, linking communities and boosting economic activity.
