Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system and improving the welfare of medical workers.
He stated this on Monday when he received the leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Kaduna State Branch, led by its chairman, Dr. Hassan Bala Salihu, on a courtesy visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House.
The Association commended the administration for key reforms in the health sector, including the swift implementation of the 2024 CONMESS and CONHESS salary structures, allocation of over 15 percent of the state budget to healthcare, and the enactment of the Mental Health Bill, the first in Northern Nigeria.
Other milestones cited were the establishment of KADSEMSAS, completion of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu 300-Bed Specialist Hospital, recruitment of 1,800 health workers annually for five years, and the pioneering implementation of the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF).
In response, Governor Sani appreciated the NMA’s recognition and announced new incentives for the association, an operational vehicle and land allocation for a housing scheme.
He also accepted the Association’s invitation to serve as Grand Patron, noting that improved security across the state will allow Kaduna to host the next NMA National Games, previously suspended in 2020.
“Together, we shall build a more resilient healthcare system and position Kaduna State as a beacon of medical excellence in Nigeria,” the governor said.
