In a major development aimed at transforming media education and practice, Iconic University is set to launch three new media platforms: Iconic FM 104.5, Iconic Times (a digital newspaper), and Iconic Digital Media Services.

According to an official statement, the new platforms are part of the university’s efforts to enhance the practical training of students in mass communication, information science, and digital media.

“These media outlets are independent of the university but will serve the training and public engagement interest of the university,” the statement read.

Digital-first strategy to redefine campus media

The media outlets are expected to operate with full editorial independence while remaining closely linked to the university’s academic mission.

The aim is to align conventional journalism with cutting-edge technology and global standards in social media engagement.

“The goal is to take conventional media practice into the digital space in line with global best practices,” the university emphasized.

Media services built for Africa and beyond

Iconic FM 104.5 will operate as a conventional campus radio station, providing both hands-on training for students and real-time content for the community.

While Iconic Times will serve as the university’s flagship digital newspaper, delivering news and in-depth reporting across sectors.

Iconic Digital Media Services on it’s part aims to be a modern content and technology hub designed to shape the future of media in Nigeria, Africa, and globally.

The university called on the public to stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches.
