The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of a four-year-old boy in Numan Local Government Area of the state.

A press statement released on Friday by the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the boy’s father, Umar Ibrahim, from Ngballang village in Numan Local Government, reported the incident to the police on March 2, 2026.

“On the 2nd March 2026, one Umar Ibrahim of Ngballang, Numan LGA, reported at the Police Station in Numan that on the 1st March, 2026, his four-year-old son, by name Ramadan, went out to play but did not return home. All efforts by the family to locate the child initially proved unsuccessful.

“Some days later, the complainant received a call from an unknown number informing him that his son had been kidnapped and demanded a ransom of Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (₦800,000).”

The statement further explained that after investigations by operatives of the Command attached to the Numan Division, two suspects identified as Sadiq Ali (19) and Shitu Umar (23), both residents of Lafiya in Lamurde Local Government Area, were arrested in connection with the offence.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to carrying out what the police described as an organised crime.

The Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has now been directed to assume control of the case for further discreet investigation and additional necessary action.

The Adamawa State Police Command also reassured residents of its resolve to safeguard lives and property and urged members of the public to stay vigilant and quickly report suspicious movements to the nearest police formation.
